A gasket's primary purpose is to create a constant tight seal. Over time a gasket can dry out and lose its elasticity. If you notice this happening, replace the gasket immediately. A worn out gasket can lead to steam not building up, or worse, escaping from your cooker.

A soft, pliable gasket is a necessity for keeping a pressure cooker operating safely. When a gasket becomes worn or dried out, steam may begin to escape and won't build up properly. This ten-inch silicon gasket is designed specifically for Fagor eight- and ten-quart pressure cookers, and is not intended for use with any other brand. This rice cooker cooks up to 5-1/2 cups (enough to feed five to ten people or more) of a variety of rices--white, sweet, porridge, and mixed--for accompanying stir-fries, stuffing peppers, or rolling sushi. The LCD screen is easy to read and the push-button controls are simple to program once you’ve mastered them. After loading your rice and water into the inner pan and choosing the type of rice you are making from the menu, the microcomputerized "Fuzzy logic" temperature control system calculates the exact cooking time (usually between 45 and 70 minutes) and programs it for you. The Fuzzy microchip combined with the unit’s spherical heating system, which cooks on all sides of the inner pan, ensure perfect rice every time without burning or overcooking. You can also set the timer manually in 30-minute increments for cooking times of up to 13 hours. When cooking is complete, the cooker beeps eight times and automatically shifts into a Keep Warm mode, which keeps rice warm for up to 12 hours after cooking is complete. An Extended Keep Warm function warms rice for up to 8 hours at a lower temperature and reduces the chance of rice drying out or becoming discolored or odorous. If rice is still not eaten by then, there is another opportunity to give it a warmup of between 5 and 15 minutes using the Reheat key.

The inner pan has a nonstick coating for easy cleaning and the lid’s stainless-steel underside also wipes clean much effort. The rice cooker has a plastic handle for transporting it from cabinet to counter and a retractable cord for easy storage. Measuring 19 inches long and 10-1/2 inches wide, this range-top griddle spans two burners and can churn out large quantities of pancakes, bacon, grilled cheese sandwiches, or burgers to a waiting crowd. The griddle is constructed of heavy, hand-cast aluminum, which provides excellent heat conduction so foods cook evenly at lower temperatures. The top of the griddle is coated with an Excalibur nonstick surface, reputed to be the toughest nonstick material available because it is reinforced with stainless steel. The coating promotes healthier cooking with fewer fats and easily rinses clean in hot soapy water, requiring no seasoning to maintain its performance. For more help with fat-free cooking, the griddle has a grooved edge that drains away all fats from meats and channels them into a corner well. Perhaps the most unique feature of this griddle, however, is its defrosting ability. Without using any heat, the aluminum construction actually transfers natural heat from the air to frozen foods placed on the griddle's surface. Although a bit slower than using the microwave, thawing on this griddle ensures that the edges of foods don't get cooked and dried out as they do during microwave thawing. Thawing time ranges from about 15 minutes for a single hamburger patty to about 45 minutes for a 1-inch-thick steak and requires that the food is turned once for even defrosting and for retaining the food's flavor and juiciness. To keep the nonstick surface intact, the manufacturer recommends against using abrasive sponges, metal utensils, and the dishwasher.
